~ October 2025 Newsletter ~

The foliage has begun to shift here in central New Hampshire, and this entry to October marks one of the most beautiful times of year in our landscape. The season of autumn is, in many cultures, a time of release. Like the trees letting go of their leaves in anticipation of restorative slumber and our green plants retreating underground, we let out a long exhale in autumn and turn within. In October, we give ourselves extra permission to rest, rejuvenate, and heal.

In the spirit of our oncoming dry, cold season, Maria and series grad Kate Duinkerken have teamed up for two new blog posts to inspire your herbal and healing journeys!

First, Maria shares a reprint of a prior Herb Quarterly article on herbal and natural strategies for eczema, dermatitis, dry skin, irritated skin, and similar rashes. (This was inspired by a social media request for tips... and because someone is acting as an scammer/imposter of Maria on FB selling/advertising eczema products. Maria does NOT sell herbal products.) In this blog post, you'll learn how to make your own remedies!

And, Kate wrote such a fabulous monograph on comfrey as she finished up her series work that we decided to publish it on the blog. In this blog, Kate covers many of comfrey's health benefits and both Kate and Maria discuss the comfrey controversies. We're exited to bring Kate on to the team soon as an education advisor.

Note that this ONE class is happening a bit earlier (5-8 EST instead of our usual 6-9) due to Ember's Atlantic time zone. We are thrilled to have Ember back to teach this easy-to-understand yet comprehensive 3-hour introduction to safe and supportive ways to provide adjunct herbal care for people with or in remission from cancer.
