Black Friday/Cyber Monday ~ November 2025 Newsletter ~The team and I wish you a lovely Thanksgiving holiday weekend with loved ones. We will be closed for the extended
weekend to celebrate with our families and friends; however, Dayna and I have pulled together some nice deals and fun recipes to kick off your holiday season. <3  I'll be in the office intermittently in December, and we'll be back in touch with the New Years Day newsletter (which, if all goes well, will announce the 2026 series registration lineups...) 🫖 In the meantime, wishing you and yours a lovely season 💞   Also, a few announcements New Hampshire Residents - ACT NOW to Protect Herbal Freedom & Access to
Tinctures: The NH Liquor Commission recently required several local stores (such as the Concord Food Co-op and Granite State Natural Foods) to remove ALL herbal tinctures (herbal dietary supplement alcohol-based extracts) from its shelves. This includes legally compliant big and small local companies including Herb Pharm, Gaia Herbs, and Oregon's Wild Harvest. For decades, federal law (such as DSHEA and FDA dietary supplement regulations) protects their status as dietary
supplements not alcoholic beverages; these products are legally under FDA dietary supplement regulation, not the liquor commission. However, New Hampshire liquor law title XIII currently lacks language/clarity on this. Efforts are underway, spearheaded by the American Herbal Products Association (APHA) and working alongside the NH Liquor Commission and NH State Senator Tara Reardon to amend current laws with clarifying language to be in compliance with federal regulations and get tinctures back
on NH shelves. ACT NOW: ***NH Residents** are encouraged reach out to both Senator Reardon and your town's representative senator (if not Reardon) to voice your support. Click Here for more details and sample letter. (I also have a few additional details on my FB post here.) Cozy Roasted Root Cocoa TeaIn winter, it helps to cozy in with a satisfying tea like this Roasted Roots Cocoa blend. Mostly, it’s just a nice, tasty, cozy tea. But, of course, these herbs do have medicinal properties. It gently stimulates digestion, detoxification, energizes, lifts moods, and balances
blood sugar (especially if sipped at the end of a meal). Here’s how to make it: - 2 parts cassia cinnamon chips (or 1-2 sticks per mug)
- 2 parts toasted coconut flakes (optional)
- 2 parts cut/sifted marshmallow root
- 1-2 parts roasted cocoa nibs
- 1-2 parts roasted chicory root
- 1 part dandelion root
- 1/2-1 part snipped vanilla bean (or 1 ml or 1/4 tsp vanilla extract per mug)
Steep 1-2 heaping teaspoons of the
blend per 8-16 ounces of tea for about 15 minutes. The flavor will get stronger and deeper (but also more bitter) if you let it steep longer or decoct (simmer) it.
Fun & Festive No/Low Alcohol & Sugar DrinksThe holidays inspire us to raise a glass in good cheer and drink something a little more fun, but for those of us trying to limit or avoid sugar and alcohol, here’s something simple and fun tips to inspire you that start with seltzer. A couple of my favorites are
below: Â - Red & Green Theme: Combine a wedge or round of lime with a sprig of rosemary, sprinkle of pomegranate seeds (as shown above), some whole fresh cranberries.
- Low-Octane Cocktails: If you tolerate alcohol but want to scale it back, add a splash of liquor to your seltzer creation versus the typical high-proof, sugar-laden
cocktail. For example, I’ll do a seltzer with lime and just a tablespoon each of triple sec and tequila. Or a splash of tonic water and gin, perhaps with pomegranate seeds or rosemary for additional garnish. Or bourbon with an orange slice, vanilla extract, a cinnamon stick, and plain seltzer.
Shaken, Not Stirred:Herb & Fruit CordialsFestive cordials featuring seasonal produce like apples, pears, and cranberries are a delicious way to celebrate the holidays, both to serve at gatherings and give as gifts. Fruit and herbs combine
beautifully in simple, delicious recipes with limitless possibilities. You won’t believe how easy they are to make!  Basic Cordial Recipe (~25% alcohol) - 1 part simple syrup, honey, or maple syrup (ie: 2 2/3 ounces)
- 2 parts quality vodka, brandy, or other 80-proof spirit (ie: 5 1/3 ounces)
- Chopped fruit,
herbs, spices, etc.
Make your simple syrup (if using – see recipe below). Loosely fill your jar with desired fruit and herbs. Pour in your syrup and alcohol. Let sit for up to one month, shaking daily. Taste every day or two and strain when it tastes good to you. Strain through a cloth-lined colander or strainer, and squeeze as much out as you can with your hands. Store in glass in a cool, dark, dry spot. Here are a few fun variations to
try! - Winter Toddy Cordial: Cover chopped ginger, lemons, and thyme with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio.
- Cinnamon Blueberry Cordial: Simmer blueberries, mashing them, with simple syrup. Put 1 cinnamon stick in the jar. Cover with a ratio of 1:2, let sit to taste. Remove the cinnamon if it is getting too strong but does not yet have the blueberry flavor you want.
Simple Syrup Simple syrup without herbs will last in the fridge for at least a month. It’s an ingredient in cordials, elixirs, and some herbal syrup recipes. If you add herbs, it should be preserved with alcohol or frozen to give it a longer shelf life. - 2 part sugar
- 1 parts water
- Handful herbs (optional)
Simmer until the
sugar is dissolved. You may infuse (steep) or decoct (simmer) this with herbs (just eyeball it) for about 30 minutes, then strain. Â
