Changing Times ~ I'm Moving! ~ October Newsletter ~
Autumn is the season for change and letting go, and in that spirit,
we're making a major life change.
I've been dropping hints for a while now, and it's now official. After 17 years in this space, we've decided to purchase a new home where we can live closer to our family. We will remain in central NH -
not too far away in Chichester - and I will continue to teach in-person and online classes as well as see remote clients alongside writing and other projects. We will be moving into the new home in early December.
My House Is for Sale!
As of today, our home, gardens, home office/classroom, this precious land in Allenstown have JUST listed on the market to sell. There will be an open house THIS weekend (for serious buyers
only please), and we hope the house will find new plant-loving
owners promptly.
The home we're selling is in Allenstown, NH, bordered on all sides by Bear Brook State Park, 1.59 acres of cultivated sunny and wild woodland property including hundreds of medicinal, native, and edible plant species - lovingly tended by myself and the prior herbalist owner for 45 years. The sunroom and parking can accommodate 12 people for herbal classes (specific zoning variance). 3 bedrooms, ample storage and unfinished spaces, garden shed.
As weather gets cold, dark, dry, and we spend more time indoors in groups, we begin to see more germs floating around. While nothing is a guarantee, many herbs and recipes help support our immune resilience during this time of
year.
More Hot Fluids to hydrate, support our mucus membranes (which help protect us from germs), warm our bones, and keep things moving smoothly across all the body systems. Consider these healing broths (and soups) and my favorite immune tea recipes all the time but
really hit them hard as soon as you feel a tingle of something nasty. A simple ginger lemon tea is a perennial favorite but elder-hibiscus is also the bomb.
Go-To Herbs for me include elderberry (syrup, tea, or gummy) and echinacea (tincture or phytocaps) - which these days I take almost all the time but will increase
the dose and frequency when I travel, go to gatherings, am exposed to germs, or start to feel a tingle. Medicinal mushrooms and astragalus are excellent considerations for season-long boulstering support as well. See my blog for more on how to choose which immune herb (they do
different things!), and the latest research on immune remedies for today's germs.
